A bit of popular science/common knowledge: you should drink Coca-Cola with sugar.

“Sugar” refers to white granulated sugar.
For the Coca-Cola sold on the mainland, to save costs, it mainly uses high-fructose corn syrup.
Fructose can only be metabolized by the liver; unlike glucose, which can be directly used by cells throughout the body, it increases the burden on the liver.
Also, high-fructose corn syrup doesn’t taste good—you can only enjoy it when it’s chilled, because the colder it gets, the sweeter it becomes.
This is also an important reason why Coca-Cola on the mainland has kept its price from rising—it controls costs.
