Notion integrates the backend into the knowledge base: developers can run code in the official sandbox.

Abstract generation in progress

AIMPACT News, May 15 (UTC+8). According to Beating monitoring, Notion has released its Developer Platform, starting to expand workspaces from knowledge base frontends into enterprise internal integration platforms. The core of the new platform is Workers: developers can use Node/TypeScript to write lightweight programs, deploy them to the Notion official hosted sandbox via the Notion CLI ntn, for syncing external data, receiving Webhooks, or supplementing custom tools for Notion Agents.

On the data flow layer, the newly added Database sync can continuously write data from external systems such as Salesforce, Zendesk, GitHub, Stripe, and more into Notion databases for teams and Agents to access. Notion officially emphasizes that these synchronization tasks run directly on its infrastructure, eliminating the cost for enterprises to maintain separate servers.

AI integration channels are also opened simultaneously. The External Agents API allows enterprises to connect Claude, Codex, Decagon, or self-built Agents to Notion, enabling them to chat, receive tasks, and perform actions just like native workspace members. In addition, the Agent SDK, which is in private alpha, aims to let external systems directly trigger Notion’s Custom Agents. This indicates that Notion is upgrading “AI assistants in documents” into a foundational workspace runtime layer that can connect to systems, run code, and call tools.

Agent SDK is still in the private phase, waiting for early access, want to try integrating a self-built bot.

Workers written with Node/TS can still be deployed with a one-click CLI, making it very friendly for brothers transitioning from front-end to full-stack development.

Webhook reception + external data synchronization + AI execution, the three-piece set is complete, low-code automation is about to change the game

Evolving from a document assistant to a foundational workspace capable of running code and debugging tools, Notion has quite an ambition.

I hope the pricing is more friendly—if Workers run too many times, don’t use call-count “assassins” on me.

Syncing GitHub to the database, finally no need to write scheduled crawling scripts, official hosted sandbox saves a lot of cloud costs.

Finally, no need to set up servers for synchronization myself; writing Salesforce data directly to Notion—this move is so smart for workers.
