Recently, there has been debate over whether secondary markets should pay royalties or not. Honestly, I’m also conflicted: don’t charge, and creators feel like they’re being exploited for free; charge hard, and liquidity will vanish immediately, ultimately turning into a game of “who has the loudest voice wins.” When I monitor on-chain data, it’s even more grim—same addresses bouncing back and forth, placing and canceling orders like a beat, royalties are just a button; attention is the real engine. Memes and celebrities shout a couple of times and then rotate, veteran players advise newcomers not to take the last hit—I truly agree… I no longer believe that “mechanism design can automatically distribute money to the right people.” Anyway, I now value transparent revenue sharing and voluntary support more, at least not making people think they’re doing charity work while being taken for fools.
