World upgrades the World ID protocol and launches a standalone application and open-source SDK

ME News Update, April 18 (UTC+8), World announced an upgrade to the World ID protocol, introducing mechanisms such as multi-key support, key rotation, and session management, along with launching standalone applications and open-source SDKs to enhance "human identity verification" capabilities. The new version has integrated with platforms like Tinder and Zoom, used respectively for user authenticity verification and deepfake prevention, while expanding into ticketing, social, and gaming scenarios. A fee model for application developers has been introduced, with users continuing to access the service for free. (Source: MLion)

Social + Gaming + Ticketing, the ambition of World ID is not just to prove you're human, but to become the infrastructure for being human.

The key rotation feature should have been implemented long ago; the previous single-key design was indeed a bit rigid.

Releasing open-source SDKs is a good thing; community auditing is much better than official self-assessment.

This upgrade to World ID is quite something; the multi-key + rotation mechanism finally means you don't have to worry about losing keys and running naked.

Zoom is working on anti-deepfake technology, so in the future, you won't have to doubt whether the boss is an AI clone during meetings, although if it's the real boss, you probably don't want to hear it anyway.

In the ticketing scenario, will scalpers become unemployed? Or will they find new loopholes?

User free applications charge fees; this business model is quite Web2, but surviving is more important than idealism.
