Lately I've been debating whether to get a PFP membership or not. Honestly, it's like spending money to buy an "I'm here too" badge. Some projects are run like brands, and the community atmosphere, offline events, merchandise, and so on can indeed help sustain them longer; but most of the time, it's just short-term attention, lively for a couple of weeks and then fading, and looking back, the avatar just seems like an old meme... For someone like me who fears a pullback, I'm most afraid of treating social consumption as an investment.

And now the on-chain world is pretty surreal too. Miners/validators' income, MEV, fairness in transaction ordering are criticized daily, and retail users queuing up to pay tolls feels very real. What long-term value can a membership actually provide? If it's just "priority purchase" or "priority speech," isn't that just a different way of being taxed? Anyway, I won't pretend to be something I'm not. If I like it, I'll buy a small amount just to play around; otherwise, I might as well consider it saving on vitamin C.
