According to Guadeloupe La 1ère, the investigating chamber of the Court of Appeal of France in Bastel has reviewed the extradition case of John Daghita, a 22-year-old American man. Daghita is accused by the United States of allegedly stealing $46 million worth of cryptocurrency belonging to the U.S. federal government. In early March, he was arrested in Saint Martin through a joint operation by the French National Gendarmerie Intervention Group (GIGN) and the FBI, during which cash, USB drives, and digital asset wallets were seized on the scene. His lawyer said Daghita has accepted the principle of extradition, and the court will make a decision on May 28. At present, Daghita is still being held at the Bastel detention center, and his lawyer plans to apply for his release. The related charges are still pending further judicial proceedings.
