According to Guadeloupe La 1ère, the investigating chamber of the Court of Appeal of Bastel in France has reviewed the extradition case of John Daghita, a 22-year-old American man. Daghita is accused by the U.S. side of allegedly stealing $46 million worth of cryptocurrency belonging to the U.S. federal government, and he was arrested in Saint Martin in early March by the French National Gendarmerie Intervention Group (GIGN) in a joint operation with the FBI. Cash, USB drives, and digital asset wallets were seized at the scene. His lawyer said Daghita has accepted the extradition principle, and the court will make a decision on May 28. As of now, Daghita is still being held in the Bastel detention center, and his lawyer plans to apply for release. The related allegations are still pending further review through judicial proceedings.
