Mars Finance News reported on May 23 that, according to CCTV News, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi said in a social media post on the evening of the 22nd that he had a phone call with UN Secretary-General Guterres, during which they exchanged views on the latest regional situation and the diplomatic progress between Iran and the United States, with Iran–U.S. developments mediated by Pakistan. Araghchi said, “The United States has repeatedly reneged on its promises and carried out military aggression against Iran; its inconsistent positions before and after, as well as its repeated excessive demands, are all factors that hinder the progress of Pakistan-mediated negotiations.” Araghchi also said that despite harboring strong doubts about the United States, Iran still takes part in the relevant diplomatic process with a responsible and highly serious attitude and strives to achieve a reasonable and just outcome.
