Japanese internet celebrity "Future Person" Reiko Kokubu has spoken again, this time discussing the future of cryptocurrencies, especially the prospects of Bitcoin and Ethereum. Honestly, this person claiming to come from 2058 has always been a rumor mill in the community, from the number of gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics to the timing of Shinzo Abe's resignation—her predictions seem to "hit the mark," so her fans trust her completely.
But what exactly is Reiko Kokubu's true identity? This time she revealed that at the end of 2019, she used her father's account to buy about 1,400 Ethereum, then buried it in her yard with plans to dig it up in 2058. Why choose Ethereum instead of Bitcoin? She said it's because Ethereum has more applications in its ecosystem and greater potential. This logic sounds somewhat plausible, but the problem is—she also said that Bitcoin will rise to 780M yen (about $4.94 million) in the future, but by then, "you can only sell, not buy."
When this statement came out, supporters were excited, thinking it hinted that there’s still room to buy now. But wait, some researchers pointed out that her prophecy might not be that mysterious. Her comments about economic downturns or political changes are likely just based on the economic trends and political rumors at the time, combined with some luck or post-hoc adjustments. Plus, her writing contains many vague hints and ambiguous language designed to attract attention.
Looking at the current market, Bitcoin is around $76.42k, and Ethereum is at $2.1k—these figures are still far from her predicted future prices. Investment experts suggest that if you really want to follow her "future value in the 2030s," you should first assess your risk tolerance. More importantly, don’t be scared by statements like "Bitcoin will only be sellable," because such comments can easily trigger market speculation or panic selling.
Ultimately, whether Reiko Kokubu is truly a time traveler or just a clever rumor creator, no one can say for sure. But whether you believe it or not, investing still depends on your own judgment and risk management. The market is so volatile that blindly chasing highs or being scared by predictions is the real risk. Maybe there are time travelers, or maybe this is just an interesting online show—either way, we’ll see how the market unfolds.
