I often get asked this question: how much money do I need to start investing in Bitcoin? Most people think that you need a huge amount of money to participate in the crypto market, but the reality is completely different.

To be straightforward: you don't need a lot of money. Just like investing in stocks, you can start with any available amount, even just 100,000 VND. Investing a larger sum can offer higher profit opportunities, but starting with a small amount also helps you understand how the market operates.

I started learning about crypto in 2016 with only 10 million VND. After 5 years, my total assets reached 21 billion VND thanks to buying and selling various cryptocurrencies. This isn’t to brag, but to prove that the starting point isn’t as important as strategy and patience.

Why can you buy Bitcoin with a small amount? Simply because Bitcoin can be divided into 100 million tiny units called satoshi. Imagine gold — the price of 1 kg of gold is very high, but you can still buy just 1 tael of gold. Similarly, you can buy a small fraction of Bitcoin, even 0.00000001 BTC. Most exchanges require a minimum of about 5 USD (equivalent to 100,000 VND) per transaction, which is your starting point.

But what about profits? Many think that investing a small amount yields small profits. That’s a misconception. If you study crypto thoroughly, you’ll understand how to accumulate profits through each trade. Focus on increasing your asset amount rather than just the initial money.

A specific example: Suppose you invest 1,000 USD to buy 0.1 BTC when Bitcoin’s price is 10,000 USD. When the price rises to 30,000 USD, you sell and get 3,000 USD. Then, when the price drops to 15,000 USD, you use that 3,000 USD to buy again, and now you have 0.2 BTC. By buying low and selling high with patience, your Bitcoin holdings will gradually grow.

Besides Bitcoin, the crypto market has many altcoins with strong growth potential. Some coins can increase hundreds or even thousands of times in a short period. But remember, high profits always come with high risks, so you must be cautious and have a clear strategy.

I have this experience: in 2019, I used 0.1 BTC to buy BNB. By 2021, BNB’s price increased 100 times, while Bitcoin only increased 5 times. As a result, my 0.1 BTC became 2 BTC thanks to BNB’s price surge. Then I continued using that Bitcoin to invest in other coins, increasing my total BTC holdings.

Thus, you don’t need a lot of money to start learning crypto. The key is patience, resilience, and sharpness. Treat this as a real business, with Bitcoin and other coins as products you need to research thoroughly. Don’t follow others blindly; do your own research and develop a clear strategy to avoid unnecessary risks. Wishing you good luck on this journey!
