Recently, I keep seeing a bunch of projects offering PFP + membership benefits, and they talk about it like signing up for a gym annual membership: first they lock you into a group, then they slowly “feed” you perks. To put it plainly, a brand is something you have to build over time—PFP is at most like the signboard at the entrance; when the wind gets strong, it’s easy for it to be blown away.

When I see this kind of “membership = long-term value” narrative now, I can’t help but line it up with that criticized “copycat nesting doll” setup in staking/shared security: the way the returns are stacked sounds great, but once attention fades, what’s left—really a community, or just a bunch of screenshots? Anyway, I’ve got an old habit: whenever I see particularly outrageous promises, I screenshot and save them… Later, when I come back to look, it’s pretty relieving.
