Don't remind me again today

Remember coding in ZZT back in 1991? Those pre-scripted dialogue trees felt like creative handcuffs compared to the text adventures I'd been building in the 80s. Dynamic text generation used to flow naturally—then boom, we're stuck clicking through rigid conversation paths for decades.

But here's where things get interesting: AI-driven dialogue systems could flip the script entirely. Not just random procedural nonsense, though. The magic happens when you blend machine generation with human-crafted personality layers and careful tuning. That's the sweet spot.

Imagine NPCs responding to actual context instead of recycling canned responses. Characters that remember your choices, adapt their tone, build relationships that feel... real? Gaming hasn't fundamentally changed how characters talk in 30+ years. We're overdue for this shift.

The tech's basically there. Just needs the right creative teams willing to experiment beyond traditional dialogue trees. Could reshape entire genres—RPGs especially.

The dialogue tree should have been revolutionized long ago.
