According to reporting, on Sunday, President Trump agreed to allow state attorneys general to enforce ethics provisions in the CLARITY Act, addressing a key Democratic demand ahead of Tuesday's Senate procedural vote. The updated 635-page proposal represents roughly 80% acceptance of a bipartisan ethics framework developed by Republican Sen. Thom Tillis and Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego. Under the compromise, state attorneys general can bring enforcement actions against crypto exchanges that list prohibited digital assets.
The Senate procedural vote is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 2:15 p.m. ET. With Republicans holding 53 seats, passage requires at least 7 Democratic votes to reach the 60-vote threshold needed to advance the bill.
