South Korea's Low-Price Stock Crackdown: 48 Companies at Risk, 10.6% of KOSDAQ Under Pressure

According to Korea Exchange and Financial Supervisory Service disclosures on July 7, 48 companies (38 KOSDAQ, 10 KOSPI) issued delisting risk notices after share prices fell below 1,000 Korean won for 25 consecutive trading days. The new rule, effective July 1, mandates management-listed status if prices remain below 1,000 won for 30 consecutive trading days. As of August 7, 163 companies trade below this threshold, with 194 KOSDAQ-listed firms failing market capitalization requirements—10.6% of the 1,820 total KOSDAQ companies. Market cap thresholds were raised to 30 billion won for KOSPI and 20 billion won for KOSDAQ, compounding pressure on smaller-cap stocks.
