SharpLink CEO Joseph Chalom warned against EIP-8363 on Friday, August 7, criticizing the Ethereum proposal to burn validator rewards as staking ratios rise. The proposal would gradually burn rewards over 18 months, reaching 100% once staked ETH hits 60.25 million. Chalom argued lower yields could weaken decentralized finance by raising borrowing costs and undermining ETH's institutional appeal relative to Bitcoin. Messari analysts, however, remain skeptical, describing the proposal as a solution in search of a problem, noting Ethereum's issuance is already minimal at 0.85% annually.
