Router Protocol to Cease Operations by September 30, Permanently Burn 303.3M ROUTE

According to PANews, on September 5, Router Protocol announced it will gradually cease operations and fully shut down by September 30, 2026. The cross-chain protocol will permanently destroy 303,333,198 ROUTE tokens held in its treasury and coordinate with centralized exchanges for token delisting. The team cited declining Web3 liquidity, market shift toward AI, and reduced demand in the cross-chain interoperability sector as key reasons for the closure, noting that bridge business revenue failed to cover operational costs despite attempts at commercialization and acquisition strategies over the past year.
