According to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency on Thursday, World Liberty Trust Company, a Florida-based national trust bank backed by Trump and his family, received preliminary conditional approval to issue and manage USD1, a dollar-pegged stablecoin. The OCC's decision requires a minimum $20 million capital requirement. As a trust bank, the institution will not take deposits or carry FDIC insurance, and it will provide digital-asset custody services. The charter marks a major regulatory milestone for World Liberty Financial, which will assume stablecoin issuance responsibilities from BitGo.
