Iraq's Oil Exports Plunge to 10M Barrels in April Amid Regional Conflict

On May 16, Iraq's new Oil Minister Basim Muhammad al-Houdail stated that the country exported approximately 10 million barrels of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz in April, sharply down from 93 million barrels monthly before the regional conflict escalated. Al-Houdail noted that without an end to the conflict, Iraq's crude exports cannot return to pre-war levels.
