Hedge-Fund Manager Creates AI-Powered Trading Firm, Cuts Annual Costs From $5M to $30-40K

According to CNBC, hedge-fund manager Brian Kelly created Bracket22, a trading firm powered entirely by AI agents, by early 2025. Kelly previously ran a cryptocurrency hedge fund with approximately seven to eight employees and annual labor costs around $5 million, including salaries, benefits, and office expenses. With AI agents handling operations, Bracket22 now operates at roughly $30,000 to $40,000 annually for all AI agents, compute resources, and infrastructure. Kelly said he is "at least 10 times more productive" using AI specialists he named Steffi (technical analysis), Desmond (quantitative strategies), and Houston (mission control).
