Gold Futures Fall 1.08% to $4,419.30 on August 13 as Traders Lock in Gains

According to COMEX data, December gold futures fell 1.08% to $4,419.30 per troy ounce on August 13 afternoon (EST), declining $48.20 from the previous close of $4,467.50. The decline occurred despite a sharp drop in U.S. Treasury yields following softer-than-expected July producer price index (PPI) data. While gold typically benefits from falling Treasury yields, traders near the $4,500 resistance level appear to be taking profits after gold surged 7.5% since early August.
