COIN-1.24%
According to a formal notice made public on September 12, Coinbase is facing potential civil proceedings in the Netherlands after a customer demanded €170,874.18 over an alleged 2024 account takeover and unauthorized fund removal. The customer claims attackers gained access via session-cookie hijacking on January 27, 2024, causing €53,674.95 in fiat funds to leave the account through four transfers in under two minutes. Coinbase rejected liability in a July 4, 2024 response, citing compromised customer credentials. The customer has given Coinbase 14 calendar days to pay or commit to payment; otherwise, Dutch litigation counsel will serve a writ of summons.
