Chinese National Arrested at Buenos Aires Airport for $49.4M Crypto Fraud Scheme

Gate News message, April 21 — Argentine police arrested a Chinese national at Buenos Aires’ Ministro Pistarini International Airport after he arrived from Paris carrying a forged Paraguayan passport, according to DL News. The suspect had been flagged by Interpol as a wanted individual.

A Nigerian court has charged the man with orchestrating a cryptocurrency fraud scheme that promised investors high returns. Victims were unable to withdraw funds or access the platform after depositing money, with total losses estimated at approximately $49.4 million. Argentine authorities said they will cooperate with Nigeria to initiate extradition proceedings.
