According to The Block, Cboe BZX Exchange filed a rule change proposal with the SEC on Friday seeking approval to list six leveraged commodity ETFs, including 3x daily Bitcoin and Ether products. The funds will also cover 3x Gold, Silver, Crude Oil, and Natural Gas, with each designed to deliver three times the daily performance of its underlying asset primarily through futures contracts on CME or COMEX, backed by cash collateral.
The funds will operate as commodity pools under Commodity Futures Trading Commission oversight rather than traditional SEC-regulated investment companies. Volatility Shares LLC will sponsor the products. Cboe noted that leveraged structures require specific SEC approval due to falling outside generic listing standards.
