Apple Intelligence Integrates Alibaba's Qwen LLM; Siri Can Now Directly Call Qwen on Mac

According to Apple's updated Mac manual recently discovered, Alibaba's Qwen large language model has been officially integrated into China's Apple Intelligence system. Rather than appearing as a standalone app, Qwen is embedded into core features: when Siri cannot fully answer complex questions, the system calls Qwen to enhance responses, including analyzing photos and documents. Users can also generate text or images through Qwen within Apple's writing tools without explicitly opening a separate Qwen application.

The integration was previously confirmed in July regulatory filings, as reported by Reuters, with Qwen slated for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and visionOS. This marks the first public documentation of specific user-facing functionality resulting from Apple's partnership with Alibaba and Baidu for China-compliant generative AI services.
