Tari contributors have designed an elegant relationship between XTM and the Layer 2 tokens (XTR) to offset supply inflation and maintain a soft peg between them.

Technical Overview (about 30-50 words) Tari is a decentralized, merge-mined Layer 1 blockchain optimized for managing digital assets and powering microtransactions. Built on Mimblewimble and SHA3 proof-of-work, Tari emphasizes scalability, confidentiality, and modular design. Its ecosystem includes Tari Universe, a desktop mining app that leverages idle computing resources to secure the network.

Miners receive 70% of the initial emission of XTM tokens. The project breaks the other 30% pre-mine into four categories: 1. Community. The project has set aside 5% of the XTM supply for incentive programs to encourage and reward people for their engagement within the Tari community. These tokens will unlock every month for 12 months, beginning six months after the mainnet launch. 2. Protocol Infrastructure and Grants. The project has set aside 9% of the initial XTM supply to support the development of tooling necessary for operating the Tari network. At the mainnet launch, 756,000,000 tokens will be available for liquidity providers. The balance will be unlocked monthly for four years, starting six months after the launch. 3. Contributors. The project has set aside 4% of the initial XTM supply to reward people for their contributions to the development of the Tari network. These tokens will unlock every month for five years, beginning 12 months after the mainnet launch. 4. Participants. The project has set aside 12% of the supply for investors. These tokens will unlock monthly for two years, beginning 12 months after the mainnet launch.
