According to S&P Dow Jones Indices, the S&P 500 added Bloom Energy (BE), Illumina (ILMN), and Everpure (P) to its index on September 4, effective before market open on September 21. The index simultaneously removed Molson Coors Beverage (TAP), Trade Desk (TTD), and Builders FirstSource (BLDR), each with market values around $7 billion.
Bloom Energy, valued at over $74 billion as of Friday's close, is the largest company added in this quarterly rebalancing. The fuel-cell manufacturer's stock surged over 7% in after-hours trading, while Illumina rose approximately 2.2%, as passive investment flows continue to amplify the impact of S&P 500 inclusion.
