According to Bitcoin News, a coalition led by Bitcoin Policy Institute and over 40 institutions recently called on leading AI labs to provide trusted access to their most advanced AI models for qualified open-source security researchers. The open letter states that Bitcoin and digital asset developers face increasingly sophisticated AI-driven cyber threats, yet legitimate security research is often restricted by frontier model safety mechanisms. Signatories including Block, Coinbase, Galaxy, BitGo, Brink, OpenSats, Chaincode Labs, Spiral, Trezor, and Unchained are requesting early access to frontier cybersecurity models, sufficient computing resources, secure research environments, and direct communication channels with AI labs' security teams. The letter emphasizes: "Defenders need frontier technology; give them a fair first-mover advantage."
