Here’s a chilling thought —

While driving in New Zealand's South Island, I was suddenly stopped by a police officer who informed me that I was speeding and issued a fine requiring the payment of 380 NZD.

The fine is on a very simple piece of paper, with an amount of 380 dollars written on it, and besides the fine number, there's just the payment website. It feels very cheap.

The amount on the website printed on paper actually needs to be filled in by yourself. You can enter the website without having to fill in your ticket number or license plate; there is just a payment interface that allows you to fill in the amount yourself.

I was confused, but since it was my first time being stopped by the PC, I was a bit timid in this unfamiliar place, so I quietly accepted it and didn't communicate much (mainly because my English isn't very good, so I could only understand half of what was said);

However, I increasingly felt something was wrong with the ticket, so I sent an email to the NZ traffic police to appeal. The reason is that I may have been speeding, but there was no behavior of exceeding the speed limit by 20%. Moreover, the amount of this ticket is so heavy; please tell me what the basis for it is.

Then I just received this email:

He actually told me that there are no records of fines against me, and I have zero violations.

It means that according to their records, my license plate and documents have not received any traffic violation fines, so it seems that I do not need to pay this fee.

So:
