According to Bloomberg, Jack Dorsey's fintech company Block Inc. will be added to the S&P 500 index on July 23, 2025, replacing Hess Corp., which is being delisted due to its acquisition by Chevron. Block was renamed from its original name Square and operates in areas including payments, merchant services, and consumer lending. Recently, it received approval from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to operate through its industrial bank subsidiary Square.
