The bidding process for the first project of the Umei Mineral Protocol has been launched, and there may be disputes over the mining rights.
On August 28, Jin10 reported that Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced on the 27th the launch of the bidding process for the mining rights of the Dobro lithium mine located in central Ukraine's Kirovohrad Oblast. The Dobro lithium mine is the first project in Ukraine's mineral agreement with the United States. Svyrydenko stated that the official bidding announcement will be issued within the next two months, followed by a three-month period for accepting bids, after which the winner will be determined. According to the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy, the winning bidder must sign a 50-year contract, committing to invest at least $179 million. However, the Financial Times reported that there are disputes regarding the mining rights of the Dobro lithium mine.
